Who is the Mediatrician and what do they do?
The Mediatrician provides information and strategies that are balanced, practical, and based in scientific evidence for parents based upon their children’s ages and their category of concern regarding a multitude of media issues.
For instance, you can get information on media usage for the school age set broken down by the different types of media from television to print to the internet.
The Mediatrician is Dr. Michael Rich, MD, MPH, an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School, Associate Professor of Social and Behavioral Sciences at the Harvard School of Public Health, and practicing physician of Adolescent Medicine at Boston Children’s Hospital. He is the Founder and Director of the Center on Media and Child Health (CMCH) at Boston Children’s Hospital (BCH) where in his role as the Mediatrician he offers research-based answers to parents’, teachers’, and clinicians’ questions about children’s media use and implications for their health and development.
Social time starts at 7:30pm, lecture will begin promptly at 8. Hors d’oeuvres and beverages/wine will be available for all attendees.
