Dr. Claudia Gold: Overcoming Defiance, Tantrums and Other Everyday Behavior Problems

Being understood by someone you love is one of the most powerful feelings at any age. Dr. Gold merges behavioral science and neuroscience with 25 years of experience in behavioral pediatrics to explain why it is crucial to our children’s long term development and how to do it.

Learn the immense power of seeing the world from your child’s point of view. When children feel truly heard and validated, tantrums are diffused, defiance withers, and positive parent and child relationships flourish.

Dr. Gold is the author of three books: The Silenced Child, Keeping Your Child in Mind, and The Developmental Science of Early Childhood.

She has been featured on CNN, written articles for The New York Times and is a regular contributor to Psychology Today.

In lieu of a book sale, the first 50 WMF members to arrive will receive a free copy of the Dr. Gold book Keeping Your Child in Mind.

Social time starts at 7:00 pm, lecture will begin promptly at 8. Hors d’oeuvres, an ice cream sundae bar, desserts and beverages/wine will be available for all attendees.

At the lecture, and for the two weeks following, the Charitable Givings Committee will be collecting items for Vincent Newborn Necessities, an outreach program that provides essentials for mothers and newborns at the MGH Chelsea Healthcare Center. This program has assisted over 2,000 women who are often uninsured and unemployed, and many of whom are single moms, homeless or without familial support. As always, our focus is to bring these women a Necessities packet of:

Diapers (size 1 and 2)

Diaper wipes

Diaper ointments

New size 0 to 3 months outfits

Also needed are gently used, seasonally appropriate clothing in size NB to 12 months, baby blankets, wash cloths, hats, socks, shoes, outerwear, onesies and basically any gently used items we moms find we no longer have need for including baby carriers.

Thank you in advance for your generosity and support!
